| Wight Water offer these activities on Sandown beach, however, bring your own boards and the Island is your beach | The Island has many sailing schools, eg. Wight Water based on Sandown beach offers many water based activities including sailing, canoing and windsurfing. | There are many small fresh water lakes where fishing is available for a small charge. Alternatively you can fish from piers/jetties and from some beaches. |

| The Islands' countryside makes for beautiful walking trips. With miles of footpaths and bridleways across breathtaking scenery. From the cliffs of Freshwater, the downs to strolling along Shanklin promenade. There is something for everyone. | With new cycle routes in place, the Island offers both amateur and the serious cyclists an excellent opportunity to see the Island. | Not for the faint hearted as it involves jumping off a cliff at the back of the Island and catching a thermal wearing nothing but your clothes and a parachute! |

There are miles of safe, clean and sandy beaches along the east coast of the Island. Facilities such as toilets and cafes etc can be found along Sandown seafront (left), further along towards Yaverland (right) the beach is less densely populated. |

The Festival celebrated the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Over 100 traditional
boats and thousands of visitors celebrated D-Day, the incredible Operation
Overlord of 6th June 1944, in which 6,500 vessels landed 130,000 men on
the beaches of Normandy. |
